While they obviously could've done better I always wonder if there was any realistic way they could've done it that wouldn't have led to a bunch of hatred and enemies

That region is extremely complicated culturally/socially and isn't highly regarded for being very reasonable about things. I just think it was gonna be fricked regardless

I guess they could have given each warlord their own territory. They still would have had to police the region, but probably less so.
