When you think you’ve heard everything after riding out a couple of hurricanes and other shite. Damn weird sounding.
I will take a hurricane over an earthquake or a volcanic blast.
At least with a hurricane, I have days of preparation/anticipation built up. With an earthquake, I could have little to no warning on the next big one. Volcanic eruptions have gotten a little more predictable, as in we know it is about blow but we don’t know if it will be right now or in the next few months. Unfortunately, that level of anxiety would drive me nuts and broke if I had to evacuate.

Not sure how much better that have gotten in 40 years but the Mt St Helens event around 1980 had people knowing that it was coming sooner or later only to end up stranded and dying in the eruption because they were cut off from all possible escape routes.
They knew something was going to happen but not exactly when and certainly not that the entire side of the volcano was going to blow open.
