Probably won’t happen here, but would be interesting to see a cost analysis of a complete ban… if medical costs of the complications associated with smoking and their earlier death rates are more than the Social Security payments of them living longer by quitting…cause you know someone is running those numbers

I vaguely recall a study a while back that healthcare costs of having smokers die early was less than for people who lived to a ripe old age. If true, and if reducing healthcare costs was the goal, perhaps they should be handing out cigarettes.
