This is where I disagree. I think there are a number of people in the apparatus who think it is otherwise and/or are actively working to ensure that it is.
As I said above, my point is not meant as some sort of defense/excuse FOR Trump. I recognize what a mess the whole situation is. He's a part of it, sure. It's far from something of solely his making. If you can't see THAT you are missing a lot.

I've never said the party is not a mess.
The thing is, it's a mess largely due to Trump.
Mostly because he is not a republican and yet is the most powerful person in the GOP currently.
