The biggest problem with the Heisman is its made into a predominant QB award.
I would say its a bigger problem that the Heisman usually goes to the best player of the top few teams.
2006 is a great example. Troy Smith was an average QB with average stats, but somehow won the Heisman. It should have gone to McFadden, but Arkansas had a few losses and Ohio State finished the regular season undefeated.
In the early 50s, Notre Dame's QB won the Heisman while the Irish finished the season with a losing record. No way that would ever happen today.
With the playoff expanding to 12 teams, I predict many will begin to argue that the award should be given after the playoffs conclude. However, my concern is that the the playoffs would influence the voting too much and the regular season would be forgotten.
