In the exhibition game McMahon started Mike Williams at PG and Reed at the "4". Both Fountain and Hannibal missed that game.
With Cook not eligible, I'm curious to see if McMahon goes with Williams to start the season at PG? Or if that was just a start in an exhibition to get him some experience?
I think you will see LSU start with a 3 guard lineup: Williams, Stewart, Wright. I'm not sure if they go with Fountain at the 4 (more reliable) or Reed (higher potential). Reed is a guy coaches fight over. 6'10 with the ability to put the ball on the floor and drive from the wing. However, he has looked out of sorts when he actually plays. He doesn't defend particularly well, nor does he rebound well. Fountain isn't dynamic, but you know he is going to work hard on the glass and defensively.
Just a guess: I think Williams, Stewart, Wright, Fountain, Baker are your starters. Ward is going to get into the game fairly early and play starters minutes. Fountain, Reed, Collins, and Baker will all play somewhat similar minutes to see if anyone will start to distinguish themselves.
I think this group should be much more efficient on offense compared to last season. Defense and rebounding are big concerns.
