I have said it before and I’ll say it again - but I think it’s gnat. They have not been able to put together a championship level beam team since she has been there. I will give her credit that she got them *relatively* consistent this year, but Sierra is a 9.8 on her best day and if Alexis has her best today and judges blink on her wonky form she can get a 9.9 1 time out of ten. Savannah probably peaks at a 9.85 on her best day because of that switch 3/4 and she hasn’t seemed too stable either of her times out, though she has been serviceable. However, you don’t beat OU, or even Cal, with serviceable on beam.
Don’t get me started on Kiya/Aleah. Both of them have been huge disappointments on beam this year. I have given Kiya a pass since coming back from injury but her being generally a 9.85 max has hurt us as compared to before her injury. Aleah’s issues have been well documented this year, and that routine would have been 9.95+ yesterday if she had managed to stick her dismount (the dismount that every other college gymnast always sticks because it is the easiest one possible to do)
I think even with the talent of this team, it will take a minor miracle to beat OU, or even put pressure on them in the final, given they will like get Olympic order.
