I have a large chicken yard,I have electric fence all the way around ,1 wire at bottom and 1 at top.
I’ve never lost a chicken to a varmint.I have found quite a few possums in my chicken house over the years, apparently they are able to squeeze between top of fence and hot wire.
The possums have never killed a chicken, they do eat eggs and I think the chicken food.
Reason I don’t pick up my eggs until after dark is I also have 2 goats and I have to feed them after dark to keep chickens from eating the goat food.
