Both of Florida's Senators were Democrats as recently as 2005.
Bill Nelson(D) held his Senate seat from 2001-2019.
Rick Scott won his gubernatorial campaigns by 1.1% in 2010 and 1.07% in 2014.
DeSantis won his first gubernatorial campaign by .4%
If a purple state is defined as "a US state where the Democratic and Republican parties have similar levels of support among voters."
Then Florida would have certainly qualified as purple.

It would be interesting to learn how the Trump effect made a difference in such a low % win. Did his MAGA promotion give him the bump that helped him squeak by or did it almost cost him?
