The Langham on Regent Street in Marylebone (West End) is fantastic. It has the single best bed I have ever slept in. It's close to Oxford Circus tube. Oxford Street is hopping.
I also stayed around Russell Square and really liked it, being a bit more on the quiet side and with some solid budget hotels.
