Budget and who is going is important OP. The tube is great but we stayed in bayswater area not far from Notting Hill but we had 2 kids and I wouldn’t recommend it with kids. The area was great, fantastic actually. Great for kids. But it’s a long day with kids taking the tube all the time, imo. 30 mins in, 30 mins back if you want something. Then 30 mins in and 30 mins back again got old.
I would probably stay in the South Bank area again just on the other side of the river next time. You are really close to everything but prices are a little better and generally it’s a fast/ quicker tube ride. I’m not London pro though.
Unless your budget is very big staying in the heart of the main city is going to be very pricey.
