It’s 12 years old and I know they will want sell me anew one. I was wondering if it may be the valve control. If I replace the assemble then it’s the valve then I’m out $150. Grrr. But I’ll go that route if I need just to get the experience.

Look on youtube, those Honeywell control panels have a tendency to go bad. I had one go out on me this spring, easy to replace. Can get them second hand online, plumbers apparently pull these a lot when they replace a tank.

Whatever you do, drain the damn tank if you switch out the gas valve. Made that mistake trying to be cute and do it like a professional, which I'm not.
Only took a week for the new gas valve to dry out and finally work. ha but it worked. Drain the damn tank.

Oh and dont blow up
