I landed on a vw tdi swap for my TJ and will use a jeep ax15 transmission.
Currently trying to find a 99-03 vw (alh engine) donor.
That particular generation is relatively simple for diesels (timing belt based, overhead cam, and rotary injection pump fed).
If money weren't an option I would get a Cummins R2.8 crate engine and nv4550 transmission. I don't have $10k to drop on power train only lol
