Jayden Daniels was one of the most prolific passers in California high school history at the highest level of competition. Full stop.

He threw for almost 3k yards in a timid offense with 17 TDs and 2 INTs as a true freshman stick figure that wasn't physically mature enough for high end D1 football and took down Oregon's playoff hopes. He had 2 NFL receivers that year, Aiyuk and Darby. Darby came back for the COVID season, but missed all but a game and a half. ASU realistically should have still been undefeated that year. They went 2-2 on horrible luck against the LA schools and annihilated the other two. They were probably the best team in the conference.

And then the wheels fell off. And he looked BAAD when half the coaches were fired, the others were planning to get fired, his mom was part of their NCAA problems because she had the audacity to play a part in trying to buy airplane tickets a month or two before NIL started, blah blah blah.

Jayden Daniels, since he was a twig at 165 lbs dripping wet, was the great "What is he going to look like when he's a grown man?" question. Nobody doubted his talent. And it turns out, the early 20's version now that he's put on a solid 45 pounds of muscle, is REALLY, REALLY good. He has multiple NFL receivers again since the last time he looked great. Crazy how that is, dudes get open and he hits them.

JD5 was basically ASU's "chosen one", and the only smile I get from this shitburger of a CFB season with our conference collapsing and us off to play cow towns I don't care about is that the guy we thought would bring us to the promised land is arguably the best player in the country. I just dream about what we could have been if he, Johnny Wilson, Ricky Pearsall and Badger were all still there. Add Conyers at TE and I'm struggling to think of a better receiver group in the country. Have fun stopping that.

I just wish you all came through with the defense to back him up.
