Very confusing sentence. It should have read: the liberal opposition coalition, which is pro EU won the majority vote.

Per the post above, the conservative party is the major single party but the coalition of liberal parties together will make up the majority.

Ukraine was a big issue, because of grain. Poland agreed to let them tranship through the country when Russia started bombing their port. And since no good deed goes unpunished when dealing with Ukraine, they promptly started dumping grain at a cheap price in Poland instead of shipping through the country. EU got involved and said screw the farmers (or flyover country in US speak).
