It's quite simple: Coach from the sidelines.

Leave the elevated comforts of the pressbox and get to the level of your players. Encourage and coach them with your physical presence instead of through a squawk box. For those doubting my superior gridiron intellect; let me ask you something.

Remember when we implored Les Miles to make OC Gary Crowton coach from the sidelines in 2009 and 2010? We were only met with dismissive grumblings from Miles saying he would consider it. Instead of adopting the obvious solution, we got an inept and outdated offense. Cost us a lot of games with a great defensive squad that let down time after time. Do you see the parallels people?

I rest my case.

This is kind of gibberish. You suggest a coach do something and your reason is another coach did not?

Well, let me use your addled logic against you. Do you remember when E and Brady coached from the pressbox in 2019 and how good the offense was? Therefore, House should stay up there.

The job of coaching players and pumping them up usually falls to the position coaches. The OC and DC are primarily calling plays and adjusting to the other team. If they are not in the press box, they would be relying on someone to radio down the other team's personnel & alignment information to them. You let your DC (or OC) coach from wherever they are most comfortable.

In my playbook, "comfortable" means settling. It means accepting mediocrity. Well, mdomingue, I won't settle for anything less than stellar. If E and Brady wanted to coach from their deluxe apartment in the sky they earned that right. My so-called "gibberish" is just common sense. Play. Better. Defense.

I rest my case.
