Sounds like you’re going to have to stain it if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. You can’t really resurface with a thin layer of additional textured concrete as it will just chip away over time. Concrete folks don’t like to pour less than 3 inches thick. Also it will probably crack again where it cracked before.
If you are willing to spend then check out outdoor porcelain pavers. They’re thin and you can select different textures from stone to wood.

You can resurface it. This is primarily what our company does. We use butterfield overlay products and have used them for years. Looking at roughly $7/ sqft for textured, stamped concrete overlays that are scored, stained, and sealed.
