I am a teacher. The validity of a diploma does not exist today. I have kids graduating, who read on a 2nd grade level. Why? Because when they decided to base funding for schools on the letter grades they receive, schools started passing kids based on God knows what. Every child that does not graduate, the school receives a derogatory mark.
I even question the validity of a college diploma now. Its ridiculous. Pathetic!

Which school system do you work in? I’m interested in hearing more details.
This must have a tremendously negative impact of classroom behavior and the ability of teachers to really engage with the material for those students who actually want to learn.
