I'm giving him my thermacell, has boots, he has a pretty sharp Kershaw, but may get him a skinning knife and saw.
good binoculars, and a backpack might be a good purchase.
Anyone have thoughts on which daypack/backpack to get him?

This is what I've used since the 90's, I got it at a military surplus store.
Eta: I just looked and those frickers are $100 on Amazon! I don't think I paid more than $20-25 for mine back in the day.

I’ve used one like this from Academy for years. Just bought my second one a month ago after the first gave out on me. As most people said- thermocell, light, boots and a knife. Everything else is preference. It’s great to hear of new hunters wanting to get in the woods. Good luck!
