I greatly prefer regular uninsulated boots and good wool socks. If your feet are cold and not exposed, you need better core temp management. I've hunted arse deep snow in single digit temps in uninsulated hiking boots and my feet were fine.

Insulated boots in my experience rarely fit very well. They hold moisture in the insulated. They cause my feet to sweat more than just socks. Boot blankets can offer more insulation that is easily removed and put back on as needed.

I'm a big fan of LaCrosse and think they are the gold standard.........having said that.

I got a good deal on Irish Setter rubber boots 1200g thinsulate and a pair of lace up 400g for fair weather.

The lace ups are excellent. Bought them a few years back for chasing turkeys in the mountains of New Mexico. Really comfortable.
