Not much to add. I’ve seen several from the car or in a crowded area at Yellowstone and Tetons area. They’re everywhere.
As far as “in the wild”, this guy crossed about 75 meters in front of us when we were hiking the AT. He looked at us, and kept walking.

Hell they're like fleas in Virginia. Ran into 4 just on Thursday. Makes 6 in the last 3 trail cam hanging trips. Normally see around 30 during deer season. Heres a sow with 2 cubs I ran into Thursday. She couldn't decide whether to fight or flee. Got a little hairy for a second. She's about 30 yards here.
