Waffles house as a franchise will never survive this. It's basic math. If waffle House ownership doesn't get profits they expect, they aren't staying open. And they set the profit margin they want to see. Not anyone else.

Waffle house will just reduce the number of employees needed to run the business. I agree that they cannot survive paying so far above market rate on the margins they have.
I'm not sure how any one business could survive that kind of wage shock.
