You are a fricking moron.

anything but. you ever worked in the trades? no so stfu, i have done both trust me frickign working in the heat all day sucks. and the work is hard af.

#1. You assume everyone has the same goal in life.
you mean making a good living, without having to destroy your body? yea that should be pretty much everyone's goal

quote:

Unless you want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, teacher, accountant. And a few others I am missing, I can easily argue the best route would be to go to a trade school instead of college.

might be right but there are ton of other avenues and careers that require a degree, any degree. there is a reason people with a degree make way more money over the course of a career.

There are people who didn't graduate HS who would probably laugh at what you make... Since that's seems to be what identifies you.

no shite, but again we are talking numbers here. fact is those with a bachelors make more over a career on average.

and i didnt tell the OP to go to college. he apparently isnt college material. he is struggling with high school.

A drafter/designer can make really good money especially if they travel around for work.

yea no shite, but to be a designer now a days you need to get an associates 99% of the time to even get a look.

and OP said he didnt want to move nor travel. read the thread before you call someone a moron.

i specifically mentioned you can make 6 figures if you want o travel.

quote:

I worked for a company that brought in a certain amount of their people, most of them.. That's what they did. The company had/has projects all over. There was this one guy who traveled to work for 6 months then went back home and bought, fixed up and flipped houses. Well, he said he would usually do 2 or 3 in that time. He was in his 50s, but he was talking about how he was 23-24 when he started working for the company. He had a GED. Worked construction and at 21 became a bartender, realized he needed to get a real job. Got a job out in the field and at the time we worked together, he was a project manager.

who gives a frick about a 1 off.

quote:

aw this story the other day, a 68 year old engineer worked at the same company for 50 years and never went to college

then he wasnt an engineer because you cant be without an engineering degree.

quote:

Everyone thinking they have to go to college has been responsible for a lot of debt.

1) college can be done, atleast in LA, with very little debt

2) i didnt tell op to go to college. Before you start calling people out, maybe your dumbass should learn to read

i said...dont expect 6 figures. expect to work in the heat(op syas he lives in middle of no where and doesnt want to move and is looking at plumbing and electrical) and to have to work his arse off

then i told him how to retire successfully. before you call someone "a fricking moron" you might want to learn to read.

how about go find one thing i said that was incorrect before calling me a moron.

ftr i worked in the trades for over a decade and am a certified pipe fitter then went back and finished school.
