I hope you understand this and most people in Tangi do not---

Of the 64 systems scored this year TPSS scored lower than 55 of them.

Only these score lower.

Richland Parish
Franklin Parish
Pointe Coupee Parish
Morehouse Parish
City of Bogalusa School District
Madison Parish
East Carroll Parish
Recovery School District - Baton Rouge
City of Baker School District

The school board members in Tangi all wink and nod and try to explain away their failure using the discrimination lawsuit. That has become a flippant excuse for piss poor management and performance.

TPSS should be shut down and charter operators invited in to manage the schools and rehire the teachers they want and use the buildings they need.

This was posted on Facebook about Ponchatoula High. I was looking for the original person that leaked the pregnant teacher stuff and found this. It's got a crap ton of comments.

I’ve been teaching in Tangipahoa Parish for 28 years, I’m very much aware.

I agree that things could be managed much better, but the deseg lawsuit is still, without question, the largest factor in the decline in scores.

Bottom line, it’s all a bunch of double talk. Rigorous, Tier 1 curriculum, but don’t fail too many. School safety, but a discipline policy that makes it impossible. Far too concerned about coddling the ridiculous demands of parents instead of upholding an educational standard.

We are preached to about “best practices” and “research based data,” but it’s all a bunch of crap that doesn’t work and changes from year to year.

The last ten years have made this occupation so undesirable that people who are completely unqualified are being put into vacant teaching positions. Stuff like that leads to more incidents like that in the OP.

I’m in my second year of DROP, and only have the rest of this year and one more, but I often question whether I’ll continue through next year. The entire system is unsustainable and untenable, as I’ve said here multiple times.
