We've had'em around here (SC) since I was a kid in the 50s and 60s.

Damn near ran over one in my VW bug in 69 crossing the Saluda hwy near the Travis memorial ... he was chasing a buck out into a cornfield.

My grandpappy killed one, although she was more brownish mix, in 58. Shot her out of a pecan tree with his 1911.

Occasionally they'll show up on modern deer and trail cams around here.

No you haven’t. Unless someone turned a Jaguar or leopard loose. The cats in North America don’t have the gene to be black. Jaguars are coming back across the border into Arizona but you damn sure didn’t see a black one in the 60’s or ever
