I took mine to the stand at 3 and he first shot one at 8. Make sure there are plenty snacks, books, etc to keep them occupied. Mine was not really interested in the deer until it was time for him to actually shoot one. From that moment, he quit looking at his books and games and started really paying attention to the surroundings. Great fun teaching him.
