By in large, there are many different terrier breeds that make really good pets. Best dog I ever had was half wire haired terrier and half cocker spaniel. Golden Retrievers are the best all around dog, but can be too big and shed too much for some people. I would get one smaller than 30lbs if you have little kids, and that would put you in the terrier range. People down playing mutts are stupid. What the hell do you think those fancy Golden Doodles and Maltipoos are that you paid $2000 for? Idiots.
