We just put a deposit down on a yellow.

Very excited.

What has been your experience with yellows compared to black/brown?

My experience is the opposite. I have two chocolates from different breeders (one is 7 the other 3) and they are the best labs I've ever had. Not stubborn at all and very good around kids.
