remind me, why are the power grids failing in Texas again? Don't think it's those pipelines and fossil fuels is it?

Some of the generation failures were at natural gas facilities. But feel free to make up whatever.

That cold took a nuke reactor offline.

The fossil facilities were stressed to the breaking point because on day 1 of Snowpocalypse, the combined availability of Texas solar and wind was in the low single digits. So yeah, you just make up whatever.

The crap you're mindlessly parroting comes from an incompetent yet highly woke UTexas prof. I've met and interacted with the guy personally on several occasions. He is a discredit to the entire profession of engineering.

The roots of the Texas grid problems can be traced to Wall Street LBO vultures KKR, who did a hostile takeover of the main owner of Texas power generation plants, TXU. They famously boasted that they would scuttle all of TXU's plans for fossil fuel plant growth, which they did. They also told the governor that there was nothing he could do about it. This is all public record. Then, proving there is some justice in the world, TXU went BK under their "guidance" and they took a haircut, but not before they installed a crapton of corner-cut "renewable" generation capacity in place of clean coal and NG plants that were planned. There's the facts, deal with it.
