It has given smaller programs an actual chance to compete against the “football factories”
Also, I don’t mind the NIL - I just wish that they would find a way to cap it. If they don’t cap it then I feel it’s going to destroy the NFL.
If I’m a college kid making millions in college - I’m set for life. Why even try to want to play in the NFL if I’m already filthy rich from NIL money?
There's not much there that isn't wrong.
No, it hasn't helped small programs; it has helped well run mid sized programs like Duke who can offer a P5 level incentive structure, to drain small program talent out of G5 and to target specific areas of need smartly with their limited resources.
To put it this way: Duke can steal the hell out of an All-AAC corner, easier than they can recruit a 4 star capable of playing at that level in year 1 or year 2.
There's no way to cap NIL; the idea itself is preposterous-- no one in any sport, at any level, or in any walk of life is limited in their capacity to endorse; any attempt to impose a limit is going to get blown to bits by courts.
Lastly, there aren't but perhaps a hundred players making a million dollars across all of college football. I'd slow the roll before thinking a guy can play 4 years and retire financially secure.
