When folks were allowed to work remote, they moved to desirable areas thus creating a housing crisis - pricing out the normal folks who were already there. In order for these normal folks to afford the housing, they demanded higher wages to keep up with the folks who were living and working remote in the same area.
Higher wages = higher costs for the consumer
