I'm no economist, but the dealer is selling based on what he can get; you being unwilling to pay it isn't going to move the market.

Now, if everyone suddenly became unwilling to pay that rate, then sure, it will drop. But your unwillingness to pay isn't a factor.

Your points are well taken, but there will come a day when they will gladly negotiate at MSRP or below. It's just sort of sleazy that they are in essence price gouging their customers. Count me out. I certainly understand that my position has no affect on the overall dealer's pricing but I will not be one to go along with it and contribute to this practice. I don't need that Palisade that badly.

This is the key for you - if you are willing to wait, then you remain in control.

If you are in a bind and just have to get a new car, the market will dictate the prices more than you will.
