I was told something today that I didn’t know about single-A pitchers and not sure if it changes as you move up. But a guy I know his bosses son pitches single-A and they have a certain number of pitches that they throw per game. Say it’s 20 or 30 or whatever number the team has in place for their pitchers, then it’s next man up.

That’s the spaceballs line with the degrees of separation. Class A ball pitchers can pitch deep- way more than 20. But Rookie pitchers who have already pitched a full season in college/high school only get used in very small doses.
