Left the SBC 20 years ago. If you are looking to find deeper spirituality study Buddhism, Hinduism or esoteric Christianity. About the last place you will touch authentic spirituality is in church. It’s a religious social club.

Unfortunately this is how I saw it as well. I was naive enough to believe it had a deeper goal but at the end of the day it's mainly about meeting people and just having community. Depending on what denomination you're in, you don't have to be very spiritual at all.
