Me and some of my boys from college are going fishing at Jamaica Beach this weekend. What’s been biting and what was it biting? Thanks Baws.

Never fished the surf in Galveston but everyone I've talked to and everything I've read the bait to be throwing is a Mirrolure 52 or 51. I imagine a Mirrodine XL or Softdine would work as well.

The fishing there is hit or miss. Depends on beach conditions. Usually have better luck on the other side of San Luis Pass.

Can drive on the beach further on the side. But the Beach just south of the pass is safe for wading and can be good.

If water is smooth enough find birds or a rip current or hole, start out standing on the beach and work first gut, if no luck move deeper. Spoons, and DSL on jighead work great. Mirrodine as well. If you throw live be ready to battle hard heads all day.

Or wade fishing out in the bay side of San Luis Pass. There's usually a bunch of folks out there catching specs.

This pretty much covers it unless yall have a kayak and are rigged up for bigger stuff. I'm slowly getting rigged for sharks hoping to hit it hard this fall.
