Who are the true LSU fans?

I was born in 82 I don't really remember the Archer days but definitely the Curly days. I would sit with my dad on Saturdays watching LSU yelling and screaming or jumping up and down slapping high fives with my dad. If it was on Tiger vision we'd have to watch it like scrambled porn listening to Jim Hawthorn call the game. I was always decked out in LSU gear and die-hard. I recall most of my friends sporting Michigan and Florida State starter jackets and hats and talking about LSU sucks. I was so excited when Dinardo came in and we made it to bowl games and upset Florida in 1997. When he made the mistake of hiring Tepper I was hoping he would fire him after the first season not calling for Dinardo to leave until after the second season with Tepper. This season we see so many fans already calling for Miles head and how life was so much better with get rich Nick. So many fans are leaving Tiger Stadium early, I remember going to see LSU play Florida in 99 it was wet and miserable, but I stayed to cheer on my Tigers and still had a great time even with a loss and soaking wet sober. I'm sure all those fans that I mentioned above can probably find those Michigan and Florida State jackets in the back of their closet unless the donated them to charity once we won the NC in 03. I know my friends on Facebook and Myspace are now decked out in LSU gear and die-hard now. I myself want to see more Miles unless we go with more seasons of CoDCs with the same results as this year then we start looking. It's one year give him a break he may sound like Bush in his press conferences but give the guy some credit. He's a gambler, and this bet on the CoDCs was a loss there's plenty more chips in his pocket so let him keep rolling the dice.

the real fans are also the ones here who are bitching and complaining because of their perceived status of the football program. They know what it was like in the past and are scared to death it could be like that in a hurry. They are not bandwagoners like the die hard Miles supporters like to believe.

i agree. most people on here that are worried sick about the program are actually the greatest fans of all. they care a lot about lsu and will do anything to see them succeed.

Those who accept LSU is a 4 loss team and love her anyway because she is LSU.

People like my Pop who has been a season ticket holder for over 50 years. He's endured EVERY high & low of this program since he followed it as a child in the 30's with his father. He's endured every coaching change & ticket increase without batting an eye. Like the US Postal Service, he's sat, stood,he's a short guy, through rain, hail, sleet, & snow when most everyone else in the stadium thought there would be a better place to be than in Death Valley. He taught his children the passion of LSU, not the "fair weather fan" codebook that most fans these days seem to flutter in & out of Tiger Stadium with. He knows the pain of watching his team lose to Tulane & Ole Miss, when it meant something. He has shaken Bear Bryant's hand. Witnessed all 3 of LSU's National CHampionships & cried with his children as the final whistle blew in the SUperdome in 03. HIs age is creeping up on him these days & he isn't able to make all the games but that doesn't keep him from dressing in gameday clothes early Saturday morning & walking around with his headset around his neck until kickoff-even though he's going to watch it on a television set with a perfectly good surround sound system.
So for anyone who wants to think that they are true LSU fans, next time you are in Tiger Stadium, as you are exiting before the final whistle blows, whether it be b/c we are pounding the other team or getting pounded, look around for the old guy standing up & still believing in LSU, THAT is a true fan.

And unlike the young fellas who lecture some of us for being bandwagoneers, this one LSU fan (hint: me) has been at the radio, in the stadium, in front of the tv, reading newspapers, magazines, websites, rants and has the t-shirt, since the days of Paul Dietzel, Cholly Mac, and will be to the end of his days. I have earned the right to rant. I have suffered through the wilderness years. I do not want to see our program go backwards. If Miles will right the ship and dump Malveto, I'll feel lots better to support him. If not, I'll feel free to see and share the parallels between him and the rise and fall of DiNardo. And I won't be shy about it.

I said hello to Steve Spurrier once. Do I get true tiger fan points for that?

I am so tired of the "your not a true fan" or "i am a die hard" arguments. can we please leave it alone. Everyone is true fan in their own way.

I was born in '86 and I even remember the horrendous years. When you think about it, the past 6 years have been some of the best in school history. We are 7-4 and no one likes it, but just remember the 4-6 days guys.
