It was Ft Bragg with the 82nd Airborne guys and Green Berets so you likely know what the rumors on post were. We heard their CO ordered the jump, knowing the conditions. Never heard the outcome.

Saw so many 82nd guys walking into a local pool hall on Bragg Blvd, saying "I am going to whoop arse on every redneck in here." and getting beat half to death with a pool stick. Bragg was home to some genuinely crazy soldiers and officers.

Did not witness this, but while I was there, a Black Knight doing a jump show demo., went into the ground in the middle of the parade field and they didn't even stop the show.

I was stationed there for a few years. I once did some work with soldiers visiting from another base and one of them looked at me and said “you people are insane”.
I don’t even recall what it was about and I don’t recall it being anything noteworthy.

I guess if you’re around that stuff long enough you just think it’s normal. I did “strap hang” and get in on a C130 jump with Special Forces. We had a female pilot and some of the soldiers gave her some grief. We did nap of the earth flying with a vengeance. I ended up being one of like three guys on that plane that didn’t puke. I’m sure the female pilot was very pleased but I can assure you the crew were pissed. Before everyone jumped they made sure to leave behind their barf bags.
