This is a good way to get in a fight on the water. If it isn’t yours then don’t touch it. If it isn’t labeled then WLF will pick it up, and they have been checking them too.

To OP, I almost always set mine at dusk and pick them up at dawn, but my prime time season is after hunting season before the heats gets cranked up (Feb-May). I’ll use beef heart but prefer deer liver when I have some. Concrete weight lines make a huge difference and I rarely lose any, and I fish tidal brackish water that moves.
