Where do I start? As of now I only have $1000 to invest. Do I start an account at E-Trade or should I see a professional?

scottrade has served me well... you should talk to a few people that you trust and have been investing for years and just soak in whatever they tell you before you jump in...

Scottrade's been great for me as well. Good luck out there!

I will be your investment adviser for a 3% fee and 30% of the profits!

Ditto for Scottrade, I've been using them for 4 years now and I've never had an issue.
