Well, I had a doctor who told me to keep cardio to below 1.5 hours at a time with a good amount of rest between because as you get older prolonged, high intensity cardio can be bad on your heart.
I don't remember the exact issue but it was basically your heart muscles need recovery like other muscles and it truly never rests.
My knees are bad so I had to quit running so I started road cycling. I got pretty good at it and was riding 40-50 miles a pop, pretty close to race pace. Doc told me to back it down to 1.5 hours a pop and do more weight training.
People can build enough endurance that they can damage their selves. This is for the 50+ crowd. You young bucks can carry on.
