re: olympic national park july 2023 review

One winter, I was camping in the Hoh over Christmas. Went down to a sandbar in the river with my dog who proceeded to jump in. He wasn’t being washed downstream, but the current was strong enough to keep him from swimming upstream back to the sandbar.

Jumped in, got him out, and had to hike back to the truck in cold wet clothes. All I had in my truck was some long John’s and a sweatshirt. Luckily, Kalaloch Lodge restaurant was open that night and got myself a nice Christmas dinner after almost experiencing hypothermia in the most casual attire for the day.
