Screen for Livewell intake. Bay boat

I have a 25 foot bay boat that has three large livewells in the stern and three separate 800gph Piranha through hull pumps with high speed pickups. I have been having some issues where my pumps are getting clogged up in the middle of the day and killing all my bait.
This is what the brass pick ups look like on the bottom of my hull. I need some kind of screen on them to keep the grass here from getting sucked up and stopping the pump. Yesterday, I got out early and threw the net and filled both my back wells with white bait. At lunch they are perfect. 15mins later, every single one of them were dead and neither of my pumps were putting any volume out. I removed the cartridge on the pumps and removed the grass then back to throwing the net. Ugh
I have seen a few different styles but I have not dealt with removing fitting through the bottom of my hull and obviously I am proceeding cautiously. My pumps are not easy to get to in my boat and I dont want to continue doing this.
Has anyone had this issue or has any experience changing these brass fittings? I assume they used 4200 or 5200 on my existing fitting and I also have zero experience trying to remove that in order to put a different pick up on. I did find this high speed pick up which looks like it could be my answer but I dont know how to proceed..

I am thinking this could be a good option

I have those bronze strainer scoops on my boat. They work well. Could replace with them, existing are prob 5200 to boat. Depending on in hull access may be a pain in the arse.
Easier option if you want to keep pickups you have is adding Gemlux plastic scoop cover. I did a big aluminum boat That had pickups (just a hole in bottom of boat lol) welded in and just added these over it. They make a couple of different sizes.

Thanks CP. Do you think that scoop is plastic? That is very cheap if it were brass.
One of the issues I have is that one of the pickups is mounted so that when I put the boat on the trailer, it is directly on top of one of the bunks. I was wondering what tore my carpet at the end of the bunk and when I got down there to check out the pick ups yesterday, I could only see 2 of them.
ETA [- Looks like it is glass nylon?

They’re nylon but they hold up very well. I wouldn’t be worried about it breaking. Trailer bunks may present a problem though…

I spent an hour out there yesterday, trying to figure out exactly how to add the brass strainer and it is going to be a bitch of a job. I will basically have to remove all of the pumps and the shut off valves and start all over to add those brass covers. So I ordered three of the nylon ones yesterday and I'm gonna try to go to the cheap route and see what happens.

Don’t underestimate the Gemlux nylon bc they are cheap. I’ve put them on 40+ft charter boats that fish 200+ days a year and they are still intact.

You may need an inline strainer. All of my boats run an in-line strainer and have never had that issue

Hope you are right CP. I can not imagine climbing in the small access of my boat removing the pumps, brass valve system and thru hole fitting just to change it to one with the strainer on the outside. Three of them.
We will see how they work
