LSU needs to offer more scholarships to overqualified out of state kids. This is what bama (along with the rise of football) did to raise their academic pedigree

My cousin from MD (34 ACT, 4.0+ GPA) will be going to LSU on a full ride scholarship, in large part because UofMD or NCSU did not offer as much. She's been heavily involved in youth Ag leadership programs and plans to study Plant and Soil Systems. My uncle came away more impressed with LSU than these other schools based on the campus visits. He mentioned the level of student support and career services in particular seemed better than them. She was also looking at Auburn and Miss St.

There are tons of highly talented kids from other states who would qualify for bigger scholarships at LSU than their nearest state schools.
