Alabama has proven that a great football program can raise the entire university’s academics. I don’t see any reason why a great all around athletic program doesn’t.
Athletics raises your brand making more people wanting to go to your school. With more applicants you can choose from a larger pool and get better qualified students that can help the school academically.

Alabama also benefits from UGA and UF being extremely difficult to get into and being close.
