You still have to pay a 4.45% sales tax whenever you register the car in Louisiana. Example:

$50,000 x 4.45% = $2,225

I think you might be able to claim that on your taxes, but I can't see that being that much of a benefit. I've considered doing the same by going to South Florida for a car and turning the trip into a vacation but the price on vehicles right now is still outrageously inflated.

Please never give anyone financial advice.

Car dealerships exist to get people to use their finance dept.. the corporation ( they own the cars not the dealership) really just wants to write a loan.. the dealerships get kickbacks and better product the more loans they generate….

I have bought cash for most of my cars …
I tend to be upfront because if they do not give me a competitive price I walk out and let them chase me down or if not I just go to another dealership…. I have financed once to get the discount… the sales rep looked at me and said I am guessing your gonna pay this off after your first month.. he said would you consider waiting until the third month so you do not get flagged and corp calls us up and chews us all out..

I did since just cause I felt nice .. it cost me two months of finance charges but he was a nice guy.
