When I used to live in GA I watched my neighbor drag a Waggon loaded with railroad spikes around his yard. He hammered them into the ground about an inch or two apart in a straight line about ten ft long. Then he made another similar line and formed a “V” with them. He put one of those mole kabob traps at the point.
He caught several. But needless to say he didn’t dent the population. I enjoyed watching him tho!
As for me, I had a dachshund who could sniff them suckers out with ease, but wasn’t very quick at digging. We also had a much bigger pound dog who could easily dig very fast. They worked as a team.
And I ended up having to rent a tiller to fix my yard. It was completely devastated.
