Has it been long enough where everybody pretends that it sucks and isn’t one of the best sequels of all time?
It’s that good IMO. I get why some people think it’s overrated, and that’s fine. But outside of minor gripes from me, it was quite literally as great of a sequel as they could’ve made.
FYI: my main gripe is that none of the younger pilots knew who Maverick was, especially in the bar. He would’ve been an absolute legend for his heroics in the first movie, and presumably would’ve taught at Top Gun for a while. shite, he was still active duty military as of the beginning of the movie. Yet the youngsters had no clue who he was. In a Miramar bar nonetheless, run by a chick very intimately familiar with him? Nah, son.
