I see what point you’re trying to make but it doesn’t really make sense when SVP has been an ESPN lifer for like 2 plus decades
He may have criticized that style of sports journalism (most of that energy came from RR who has turned like 60 percent of his content into talking about that topic) but he was always at ESPN doing it the way he thinks it should be done
It’s not like he was at fox and calling ESPN out for that and then moved to ESPN and started doing it. He found a way to succeed at his dream company without having to compromise on those values. Good for him.

I think the generally positive feelings people (including myself) have about SVP are the issue.
Again, I don't blame SVP for all of the terrible trash journalism at ESPN. I actually think they benefit from SVP. He seems to still try to do a less hot take and more traditional media approach when I see him.
I also think if they fired him he could decide to do better independent media. And that would allow him to be removed from the trashy perpetual controversy media that ESPN now embodies.
