"The Myth of the Noble Savage" was actually assigned reading for me. Very instructive, and peels away the bullshite of everyone living in peace at one with the land, etc.

I need to put that on my reading list.

I had always heard we didnt always get the straight story until I read Jay Higgingbotham's history of Mobile and the Louisiana that started there.

He recently died and luckily I got over wanting to choke his arse for retelling the story of antagonist motive between D'Iberville and several other French pansy. Same story retold thee times(!) and 400 additional pages...
