I don’t know what it is about HBP and why some get HBP so much more. I think they just don’t try to avoid the pitch. Most batters instinctively try to avoid it.

My nephew played college ball and led off for most of the season and he got plunked so much. He made no effort to get out out of the way. Sometimes twice in one game and if I’m not mistaken I think got HBP 3 times in one. It was insane.

Most of our team does a combination of being close to the plate, and then feet planted and not moving.

Also our guys were so good at barreling up anything out over the plate you have to come inside to attack them and when you do that hit by pitch goes up.
